Materials Encapsulation
Thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) is a modern engineering material with excellent electrical and mechanical properties and good chemical resistance to the chemicals that commonly exist at the airfields. TPE also has a very good resistance to weathering therefore insulation also withstands UVradiation and ozone exposure. Material is also resistant to the effect of temperature (below 135ºC).
Our experience is in all classes of TPE's over a wide range of applications especially designed to airfield lighting solutions. New technology is always there because close co-operation with present global suppliers. Efla OY has been molding Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE's) for almost 30 years.
Pins and Sockets
The material of the contact parts is tin-plated copper or brass. The socket is supplied with copper beryllium sleeve type spring assuring adequate contact pressure.
Insulation

The plug and receptacle insulation as well as the encapsulation of transformers are made of modern engineering material TPE (thermoplastic elastomer). TPE has excellent environmental resistance and good chemical resistance, it is capable to withstanding attack from chemicals typically present on the airfield. The insulation also withstands UV-radiation and ozone exposure. TPE also has a very good resistance to weathering. Material is also resistant to the effect of temperature (below 135ºC).
On request for special solutions different colours are also available.
RoHS
According to EU directive N:o 2002/95/EC the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (hereinafter Restricted Materials) shall be restricted or prohibited in electrical and electronic equipment.
Based on the declarations of our suppliers and taking into the consideration that Efla does not add restricted materials to the products in the manufacturing process or materials used are below the limits proposed as limits by the technical adaptation committee of the EU.
Therefore all Efla products such as insulation materials, metal parts including primary and secondary options, connectors and AGL transformers are designed and manufactured according to directive.

Packing material
The connectors are packed in recyclable cartons. Each connector kit is individually packed in low density polyethylene (LDPE) plastic bag.
